Balabag Wetland Park, also known as "Laketown" and Wetland No. 4 in Barangay Balabag, Boracay, has been formally unveiled last October 15, 2018 during Boracay's pre-opening dry run.
Key improvements include a 350-meter promenade that will fringe the wetland to further protect the area and allow locals and tourists a recreational amenity. Interpretive signage will be installed at key spots to identify plant species and illustrate how wetlands work. Rain gardens, and a new public plaza and wetland species will also be reintroduced on and at the water's edge.
The rehabilitation of Wetland No. 4 is an initiative of the Aboitiz Group in collaboration with DOT/TIEZA and DENR.
